The University has prepared health and safety guidelines for reopening campus for the fall. Arcadia will adhere to our social distancing guidelines on campus and in classrooms by, for example, spacing out furniture, repurposing large indoor spaces, and creating more outdoor covered spaces. The University is setting a clear expectation that the following protocols will be adhered to as an expression of care for all community members, especially our most vulnerable.
When University members enter a public space that requires them to touch any surfaces, they wipe in. When they leave, they wipe out. Adopting this simple hygiene mantra, as one would when using gym equipment, is an easy way to take responsibility for the cleanliness of shared spaces.
Arcadia will increase the cleaning of public spaces on campus to meet guidelines from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the CDC, as well as provide supplies to communal areas. These supplies will be available for Arcadians to wipe in, wipe out at designated spaces, such as study areas in Landman Library, tables in the University Commons, public printers and copiers, and desks in classrooms.
General Health and Safety Protocols
Arcadia will work throughout the summer to ensure that we can still congregate in socially distant ways on campus and in classrooms by, for example, spacing out furniture, repurposing large indoor spaces, and creating more outdoor covered spaces. Community members should expect protocols including, but not limited to:
Wearing facial coverings in public and community spaces (e.g., leaving residence hall room, walking in proximity to others, getting out of car).
Practicing physical distancing of at least 6 feet in public and community spaces and classrooms.
Avoiding large gatherings that don’t involve proper social distancing and facial coverings in accordance with state government guidelines.
Self-monitoring your temperature before coming to campus (or leaving your residence hall) and reporting any symptoms of COVID-19 including fever, cough, shortness of breath, and muscle or body aches to the appropriate person (supervisor, primary care physician, Student Health Services, Area Coordinator).
Being tested for COVID-19 when displaying symptoms or when requested by appropriate University personnel.
Agreeing to self-isolate while waiting for test results, and if tested positive, agreeing to continued self-isolation.
If subjected to known exposure, agreeing to get tested and quarantine while waiting for test results.
If and when necessary, agreeing to learn, work, and engage remotely.
It is vital that community members adhere to these guidelines, and the University is setting a clear expectation that each will be adhered to as an expression of care for all community members, especially our most vulnerable.
